강지연 작가의 활동명 “모래”는 “쌓아올린 모래성처럼 작은 모래 알갱이에 잠재성을 본다”는 의미를 지니고 있습니다.
그녀의 주 작업 요소인 원(Dongli)은 형형색색의 기분 좋은 리듬을 만들어 내며, 통통 튀기고 긍정적인 바이브로 사람들이 미소짓고 행복함을 느낄 수 있는 작품활동을 하고 있습니다.
저는 현대인의 불안과 고립 속에서 작은 위로와 연결의 매개체가 될 수 있는 존재를 만들고 싶었습니다. 그렇게 탄생한 것이 바로 ‘동글이(Dongli)’입니다. 밝고 따뜻한 에너지를 지닌 동글이는 ‘행복의 파동(Happy Waves)’을 퍼뜨리며 사람들과 공명합니다. 작은 원에서 시작된 동글이는 증식하고 확장하며, 서로 다른 이들을 잇는 다리이자 공감의 상징이 됩니다. 미디어아트 속에서 동글이는 어두운 공간을 밝히고, 꿈 같은 장면을 펼치며 관객에게 따뜻한 위로와 기쁨을 전합니다.
I wanted to create a being that could serve as a source of comfort and connection in the midst of modern anxiety and isolation. From this desire, Dongli was born.
Filled with bright and warm energy, Dongli spreads Happy Waves that resonate with people. Emerging from a simple circle, Dongli multiplies and expands, becoming both a bridge that links differences and a symbol of empathy. Within media art, Dongli illuminates dark spaces, unfolds dreamlike moments, and brings comfort and joy to the audience.
